Only ONE in Kentucky
Oct 24th, 2011
Shelbyville/Shelby County Kentucky has been selected as to be a part of the "Only One in Kentucky" marketing campaign with the Kentucky Travel & Tourism Department! We are thrilled to be chosen and wanted to share the letter we received from Commissioner Mike Cooper. (below)
Congratulations! The American Saddlebred Capital of the World has been selected as one of Kentucky’s initial "Only Ones.” As background, and in case you missed the announcement at the Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference or in this week’s Travel Insider, let me explain what being an "Only One” means.
We have announced a new marketing campaign entitled There’s Only One Kentucky. The campaign is based on the concept that Kentucky has numerous locations and attractions of which there is only one… things or places that travelers can experience in only one place – Kentucky. We have initially identified the first round of those "Only Ones” and the American Saddlebred Capital of the World is among those we have identified thus far.

The campaign will be highly integrated throughout the various tools and strategies we have at our disposal. Those include television and radio ads, online and social media, the official visitors guide and more. All of our "Only Ones” cannot be promoted simultaneously through all those sources. For example, our first wave of television and radio ads, which will hit the airwaves next spring, will focus on a more limited number due to the inherent difficulties of promoting each within a very small number of commercials. On the other hand, each Only One is featured in a Twitter contest that started on October 19 that is running for 26 consecutive business days as a part of the campaign announcement to the industry. The American Saddlebred Capital of the World’s featured day on the contest is October 26. Also, we have our first round of "Only Ones” featured on a special There’s Only One landing page on kentuckytourism.com. and all of them will be highlighted in the 2012 official visitor’s guide. Finally, we intend to promote our "Only Ones” during ongoing public relations and marketing efforts that we undertake on a daily basis.

And also, we want to thank you for your contribution to our ability to say with great enthusiasm, There’s Only One Kentucky! Again, congratulations.

Sincerely
